Pro Bono Program
The Office’s Pro Bono program provides volunteer attorneys to assist with preparing documents to facilitate end-of-life decisions and estate distribution.
Although the Attorney General cannot issue opinions to individual citizens, provide legal advice or representation, the Office’s Pro Bono program provides volunteer attorneys from within the Office to assist with preparing documents to facilitate end-of-life decisions and estate distribution for elderly Ohioans. Nearly 100 attorneys in the Attorney General's Office participate in the office's pro bono activities that provide legal assistance for senior citizens and low income persons. The referrals to the pro bono attorneys came from agencies in Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, as well as from statewide legal assistance organizations.
The Program Development Section coordinates the office's pro bono activities, arranging for participating attorneys to meet with eligible persons in both individual and group settings. Attorneys will often visit assisted-living facilities to make the process more convenient. For additional information about the pro bono program or to schedule an event, contact the Program Development Section.
