Protecting Children

The Attorney General has made protecting Ohio’s most vulnerable citizens, especially its children and elderly, against those who prey on them one of his top priorities. The Child and Elder Protection Section, has the specific mandate to assist local law enforcement agencies in their efforts to prevent and prosecute crimes against children and the elderly.

In addition, the Attorney General's office has created a special section of this website with information for children and the adults who care for them with tips about Internet safety.

The Attorney General’s Office also has the responsibility of compiling from information provided by County Sheriffs, information about sexual offenders and predators. The state’s eSORN website is a state-of-the art tool that allows parents to monitor potential threats to their children’s safety.

Other child protection services offered by the Attorney General’s Office include the Ohio Missing Children Clearinghouse and the office’s role as the state’s DARE coordinating agency.
