Telephone Outreach Program

The Revenue Recovery Services Section of the Ohio Attorney General's Office is responsible for collecting delinquent debts owed to the State of Ohio. In that capacity, the section services over 300 state agencies and, in accordance with the law, the Attorney General’s Office may add the cost of collection to the amount certified.

As part of the collection process, the Revenue Recovery Services Section uses an automated telephone messaging system, known as a predictive dialer, which offers Ohioans an easy way to settle their outstanding debts with the State of Ohio. The system automatically makes calls to the debtor’s contact telephone number. When the call is answered, a recorded message plays informing the recipient that the Ohio Attorney General’s Office is calling on an important business matter. The recipient is asked to follow the prompts to verify that they are the responsible party. When the recipient verifies that they are the responsible party, they will be able to access account and payment information. During regular business hours, the recipient may choose an option to speak with an account representative. If the recipient does not verify responsibility or an answering machine is reached, a recorded message with contact information will be played.

Additionally, the Revenue Recovery Services Section may be contacted regarding outstanding State of Ohio obligations using our Interactive Voice Response system as follows:

  • Sales, Withholding, Corporate Franchise, and Unemployment Compensation   888-246-0488
  • Bureau of Workers Compensation and miscellaneous state debt                    888-246-0688
  • Personal Income Tax                                                                                888-301-8885
  • University                                                                                                888-665-5440
